A multiple-frequency hydrophone calibration technique.
A method is described for comparing the sensitivity of two hydrophones over the frequency range 1-15 MHz. This technique forms the basis for the dissemination of national ultrasonic standards in the U.K. over this frequency range. A reference hydrophone is placed in an ultrasonic field and then the device being calibrated is substituted and the two output voltages are compared. This substitutio...
متن کاملA New Method of Ultrasonic Hydrophone Calibration using Wave Propagation Modeling
A new method is presented for hydrophone calibration using the Khokhlov Zabolotskaya Kuznetsov (KZK) equation. Simulated and experimental on-axis finite amplitude distortion time waveforms and frequency spectra are compared. The hydrophone calibration up to 100 MHz is estimated for two different hydrophones.
متن کاملDual polarization fiber grating laser hydrophone.
A novel fiber optic hydrophone based on the integration of a dual polarization fiber grating laser and an elastic diaphragm is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The diaphragm transforms the acoustic pressure into transversal force acting on the laser cavity which changes the fiber birefringence and therefore the beat frequency between the two polarization lines. The proposed hydrophone ...
متن کاملIn-plane ultrasonic needle tracking using a fiber-optic hydrophone.
PURPOSE Accurate and efficient guidance of needles to procedural targets is critically important during percutaneous interventional procedures. Ultrasound imaging is widely used for real-time image guidance in a variety of clinical contexts, but with this modality, uncertainties about the location of the needle tip within the image plane lead to significant complications. Whilst several methods...
متن کاملDevelopment of a PVDF low-cost shock-wave hydrophone
During a few past years a series of shock-wave generators for lithotripsy and/or tissue destruction studies have been developed in our laboratory. Based on the experiences in shock wave measurements and the drawbacks in existing hydrophones, we have developed a very low-cost, wideband, reproducible shock-wave hydrophone. The key element of this device is the rapidly mounting, disposable PVDF me...
